AISD proposes rezoning of Colonies property
Posted on Jan 2nd, 2015

The Amarillo Independent School District ("AISD") has formally proposed an amendment to the zoning of property (27.28 acres) located within the center of the Colonies for residential use as single family residence (18.56 acres) and garden homes (8.72 acres).  AISD recently declared the property as "surplus" and sought bids from third party developers.  Under the terms of the AISD bid process the successful buyer or developer must integrate the property in the existing Public Improvement District and Colonies Master Association.  The initial presentation before the city Planning and Zoning Commission will take place on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the City Council Chambers (City Hall, 3rd Floor), 509 East 7th Avenue.

UPDATE (January 20, 2015) - On January 20, 2015, AISD withdrew its rezoning application pending further discussion and consultation with the various parties involved including City of Amarillo Planning and Zoning, Parks and Recreation, as well as the board of directors of the Colonies Public Improvement District ("PID") and the Colonies Master Association.
